A Sign of the Times
Melbourne’s “Skipping Girl” sign was Australia’s first moving neon sign and has become a national icon, featuring in everything from Pearl Jam merchandise, to stamps and fine art.
A Lineage of Craft
Scrolling Girl is a powerful contemporary reinterpretation, created in the same manner and scale by relatives of the original sign’s creators. Family history tells that Scrolling Girl's neon artist, Jack Pullen, the great nephew of the original sign’s designer Gaye West, was also trained by Steven Cole, son of the original neon artist for the "Skipping Girl" sign.
